Ivory Coast: Providing educational materials for katemfe collecting communities

Books and Pens for a Better Future.

“Katemfe” is a fruit used to produce the flavour and aroma enhancer Thaumatin, which is 3,000 times sweeter than sugar. In the southern part of Ivory Coast, the communities collecting katemfe live in remote rural areas and are economically disadvantaged. Many families cannot afford the learning materials their children would need for school.

Ivory Coast school supplies distribution

To address this issue, we supported an initiative to provide 10 local schools with learning kits. The kits, consisting of textbooks, notebooks and pens, were distributed in October 2020, benefitting more than 1,000 children.

We are willing to extend our support and commitment to these communities in the future.
