Brazil: Agricultural research to fight diseases affecting citrus groves

Agricultural research to develop new strategies to fight diseases and pests affecting citrus groves.

Greening, is a highly destructive citrus disease that significantly reduces fruit yield and quality, impacting many citrus trees in Brazil's citrus belt. Traditional management strategies are increasingly challenged by environmental concerns and rising production costs. There is a pressing need for nature-based and cost-effective solutions.

The initiative aims to reduce environmental impact by minimizing pesticide usage and offer economic benefits through cost-effective alternatives to combat diseases.
Initial findings suggest that nature-based solutions may be effective tools in the integrated management of these pests and diseases. Nonetheless, further experimentation and long-term studies are necessary to confirm these findings across various conditions and plant varieties.
