Hungary: Supporting marginalized youth
A project that fosters growth and resilience in Budapest's marginalized teenagers
Since 2021, Givaudan volunteers in Budapest, Hungary have partnered with an organization dedicated to supporting marginalized children and teenagers in foster homes. Together, they organized activities like clothing donations and outdoor games, benefiting over 200 children and fostering a sense of community.
As the children grew older, new needs emerged, particularly for teenagers transitioning to adulthood. An assessment revealed key areas for support: feelings of belonging, personal aspirations, self-perception, and access to mental health services. In response, we joined in supporting the initiative, together developing a project tailored to these needs.
The initiative selected motivated teenagers and included three weeks of outdoor group activities led by trainers and role models, focusing on social skills and teamwork. Additionally, seven self-awareness workshops helped participants explore their biases and aspirations.
The project culminated in 21 mentoring sessions covering essential life skills, from career planning to stress management, delivered by Givaudan volunteers. As the teenagers engaged in these activities, they formed friendships and discovered their passions, transforming their futures.
This collaboration not only provides support but also empowered the next generation, demonstrating the impact of dedication and teamwork in creating a brighter tomorrow.
