USA: Promoting healthy eating habits in schools

Workshops on fresh and food and botanicals to promote healthier lifestyles.

In the United States, malnutrition—particularly in the form of obesity—continues to affect a significant proportion of children and adolescents. Promoting healthy eating habits and raising awareness of their importance are key to fostering long-term wellbeing.

Encouraging healthy eating through interactive learning

Since 2023, we have supported an initiative in collaboration with a local organisation that teaches children in public schools in New York and New Jersey engaging and accessible ways to maintain a nutritious diet.

With the support of dedicated Givaudan volunteers, who bring their expertise in botanicals, flavours, and fragrances, students are encouraged to explore and select fresh and natural food options.

Through interactive Herbs Labs workshops, students discover a variety of herbs and natural flavours that can enhance everyday recipes. They are given the opportunity to create their own herb bundles to take home, explore flavour diversity, and experiment with new tastes.

To date, workshops supported by the Foundation have been delivered in three schools, reaching more than 1,300 of students and helping to build healthier habits from an early age.

Working with the students was an incredibly touching and rewarding experience. Their curiosity and wonder about the world of fragrance was palpable. I hope this experience has broadened their outlook on what’s possible and ignited a passion in them to pursue future careers in science and creation.
