Spain: Supporting wellbeing and social inclusion

Encouraging social connection and wellbeing through community initiatives

People facing difficult socio-economic situations may encounter barriers to integration and access to essential services, which can affect their wellbeing and sense of inclusion.
Since 2021, Givaudan volunteers in Spain have supported initiatives aimed at improving wellbeing and social connection for vulnerable groups through community-based activities.

Supporting community engagement in Valencia (2021–2024)

In Valencia, volunteers collaborated with a local organisation providing essential services such as food support, shelter, and social assistance.
Their involvement included preparing and distributing food kits for people supported by the organisation. They also organised activities designed to promote wellbeing and social interaction, including visits to a nearby natural park and caves. For many participants, this was their first experience of this kind, offering a moment of relaxation and social connection outside their usual environment.

Exploring sensory wellbeing with elderly people in Barcelona (since 2026)

Building on this positive experience, Givaudan volunteers in Spain are now supporting a new initiative focused on improving the wellbeing of elderly residents in a care facility.

Through workshops centred on sensory experiences, participants explore the connection between smell, taste, and memory. Activities include discovering fragrances, tasting simple preparations, and engaging in creative exercises designed to stimulate the senses and encourage social interaction.
In parallel, practical activities such as gardening workshops provide opportunities for shared experiences and help foster a sense of connection and engagement.
These initiatives aim to reduce isolation, encourage interaction, and support overall wellbeing in a supportive and accessible way.
