Colombia: Soap-making training for vulnerable mothers

Fragranced-soap workshops and selling techniques as income generating activity.

Taking care of the health and well-being of a family is challenging when having no formal source of income. Mothers from a vulnerable neighbourhood of Bogotá are given the opportunity to participate in a social rehabilitation and vocational training programme aimed at improving their socioeconomic conditions.

Colombia - soap & cleaning products2

As part of this programme, we are supporting Givaudan employees to teach a group of mothers of toddlers and young children how make and sell fragranced soaps as well as other cleaning products. The team of Givaudan people give technical training on how to make items such as glycerin soap or floor cleaning products. They also provide basic entrepreneurship and business insights to ensure that the women are able to launch their small business after the training’s completion. At the end of the course, the participants have the opportunity to present a business plan to the partner NGO in order to obtain funding to start their activity.will not only provide technical training, but also marketing and business coaching to ensure that the women can make a living out of this activity. In addition, the beneficiaries will be able to train other women in soap-making, ensuring the sustainability of this project.
