France: Unlocking the academic capabilities of teenagers

A 3-year mentoring project to help motivated students develop their potential.

Challenging socio-economic conditions can create barriers to education and entry to professional career pathways. In France, we sponsor an initiative entitled ‘Promotion of Excellence’, unlocking the potential of motivated and deserving teenagers.

‘Promotion of Excellence’ was launched in 2021 to help address the constraints of the challenging economic and social backgrounds for talented teenagers, living close to where Givaudan operates. By providing the tools for personal and academic development, the programme cultivates teenagers’ self-confidence, fostering a belief in their potential, while opening doors to a world they may have regarded as beyond their reach. The teenage students are paired with Givaudan mentors, who provide one-to-one insights and advice. This includes an explanation of different professions, and support with finding internships. Cultural outings also broaden teenagers’ horizons, and public speaking courses enable them to better express themselves.
