Brazil: professional training for new sources of income

In Brazil, together with the Instituto Givaudan - an organisation implementing community projects in São Paulo - we are supporting the professional integration of people from fragile socio-economic background through various initiatives.

Professional massage training for visually impaired people

Facilitating the employability and social inclusion of visually impaired or blind individuals can pose some challenges, often stemming from obstacles encountered during their education. Since 2017, we're running a programme to address this issue by providing training in quick amma and shiatsu massage techniques to visually impaired adults. The goal is to equip them with valuable skills that will enhance their access to the job market and foster their professional integration.

The following video provides more insight about the massage initiative.

Professional baker training for low income people

Since 2022, we have also been supporting communities with professional training to unlock new skills and generate income as bakers.

This initiative originated through identifying attractive career paths for the unemployed and disadvantaged, who would otherwise have little access to such opportunities.

Thanks to the project, adults from a low-income neighbourhood in São Paulo have benefitted from training with a renowned national bakery. They were taught food hygiene principles, how to read and write-out recipes, and to make and bake various types of bread. They were also invited to sell their baked goods at a local fair. Many trainees have since gained employment as bakers as a result of this initiative.

Bringing fragrant opportunities

scented products made by training participants

Our 'Professional Fragrance Training' showcase the unique technical expertise of Givaudan volunteers and teaches a group of motivated individuals how to manufacture fragrance products, such as scented candles, room perfumes or glycerine soaps. Training in packaging and logistics is also offered, alongside business development, and coaching in sales, marketing, and finance, to help beneficiaries commercialise the products they have learned to make.
