UK: Healthy food packages for vulnerable families

Supporting vulnerable families in creating easily replicable recipes from ambient ingredients.

Food insecurity is a reality that can affect any family at a given time of their life, even in developed countries, and Food Bank organisations help tackle this issue.

Through the Food Bank, the site of Givaudan Milton Keynes regularly supports families in the local area by donating various items. A main challenge faced by those families is the difficulty in combining donated ingredients to make balanced meals. This is partially due to limited knowledge of cooking or access to cooking platforms.

The Givaudan Foundation supports the initiative to create and compile a range of meal boxes for local families in need with a selection of nutritionally balanced recipes made from ambient ingredients.

The involvement and knowledge of Givaudan volunteers is fundamental as the recipes are created by Givaudan chefs and will be accompanied by recipe cards created by a team of Givaudan Milton Keynes volunteers. The meal boxes will be donated to the Milton Keynes Food bank benefitting around 700 families in need.

In 2019, two recipes were already developed and tested by Givaudan chefs and volunteers.

By providing our meal kits through the food bank, we not only support those in facing strong food insecurity, we also support good mental health and general wellbeing.
